Hey readers! I have a little bit of self promotion here. It will just take a second. I recently re-launched my photography business under a new name. I will now be based in London, Ontario under the name From the Heart Photography. Please check out my NEW website or ‘like’ me on Facebook. That is all.
Sometimes shopping in a store for that perfect wedding gown is not an option. Brides in rural Ontario are stuck with some gawd awful stores that have more tulle than one could possibly imagine. Websites like Ruche cater to women who want that vintage feel to their wedding and who also want the advantage of a low price. This site has some beautiful dress selections as well as veils, bridesmaids dresses and other accessories. This particular dress (the Tiffany) is only $345 USD (continue reading for some more examples of their products)
Kate and Craig were married in Old Dundas and their simple (yet elegant) wedding was captured by the artistic eye of Claire Dam Photography. The ceremony and reception took place at a family friend’s estate in Greensville, Ontario. The photos were taken at an abandoned old grist mill in Crooks Hallow, Dundas, Ontario. I love the light and airy feel of these photos!
Sometimes I feel like because people only get married once they limit themselves to a hall with catering, but there are so many deliciously great options out there for your special day. I hope I can help you find some original and fabulous ideas not only for your decorations but for your food. Last summer I went to a wedding where they roasted an entire pig. At first I was skeptical. Mostly because I was used to stuffed chicken breast but as soon as I bit into the pig I decided that it made that wedding memorable. Pig Roast Catering offers a wide range of delicious options for your big day. But they don’t just slam a pig on your plate. They also have some beautiful hors d’oeuvres including lamb, chicken, beef and vegetarian. It’s about the whole experience.
Two weeks ago I pinned some delicious cakes and this week I thought I would touch on cake toppers. Not every bride wants a cake topper but just like the cake beneath there are so many interesting and cute options out there that cake toppers should not be a detail that is left behind. This cake topper (for example) adds a lot of colour and whimsy to this cake and can be purchased through Etsy or made by hand very easily.
It’s Wednesday already?!? This week has flown by! Since the sun is shining today I thought some pins of bridal bouquets would get everyone in the spring (and wedding season) spirit.
Wedding hair has always been centered around the veil but 2012 is the year of hair accessories. There are so many beautiful and creative hair styles out there that hiding it all behind a veil is a shame. This wedding season is seeing a lot of accent hair pieces like flowers, feathers and hats. These piece accent the hair style without covering it up. So when you are thinking about ways to add some punch or colour to your white attire think accessories NOT veil.
Wednesdays are always kind of lame. You are over last weekend and waiting for the next one to roll around. So we have decided that Wednesday will be our Pinterest day. If you haven’t heard of Pinterest… HELLO?!? Get on this band wagon! It is great for planning a wedding. It’s just a random jumble of photos that link to websites like mine that give you inspiration for your big day. You can sign up really fast and you can find people you know who are also ‘pinners’ and see what kinds of inspiration they have found on the World Wide Web. I digress, here at Ontario Wedding Blog we want to inspire you. Give you the latest and greatest of ideas. So we have been on Pinterest for a couple of months now and feel it’s time to share some of our knowledge with you. So every Wednesday there will be a featured category with images and links to help inspire you for your big day. Today’s theme is one of my favourite parts of a wedding…. the cake! Enjoy!
Finding the perfect venue for your wedding has becoming more challenging for 2012. Not only because spaces are filling up quickly for this years wedding season but because there is more demand on originality. Not everyone is looking for the cookie cutter venue that does weddings day in and day out. Some brides want something extra special so their guests will be wowed. Have you ever thought of a barn? Intimate Weddings posted a link this morning on locations in Ontario where you can find a barn rental for your big day. Just think of the possibilities a barn has.
